Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Clear golden with meidum white head. Sweet malty aroma with fruity notes. Flavor is sweet with slight malty notes and a bitter end.

Bottle. Pour not so much of an amber as it is a clouded gold small white head. Aroma is sweet and malty but there is a smell of alcohol as well. Taste is ok... dry, sweet, slight taste of the malt you smell, and the taste of alcohol. It goes down easy enough but I won’t be running out to get more.

Not too bad has a good bit of kick. Not too bad easy to drink but isn’t as good as Carlsberg, wouldn’t buy again.

More alcohol with more of a bite than Carlsberg lager. Still can be a drinkable beer that isn’t terrible but still lacks on taste. Nice for a grill out. Would probably buy again for certain occassions.

My bottle says malt liquor on the front (most likely due to odd Americna labeling requirements) but also has the "Elephant." Light gold colour with a big fluffy white head. Simple aroma, rather sweet with only a hint of hops. Flavour dominated by rough alcohol and not much else.

Not so fancy as I remember it from my (...) teenage beer experiences. Shiny deep golden color. Minor near-white head. Unfresh hops and sweetish malts in the aroma. Semi-dry taste with a low malt level and some light resiny hops. Light sour on the palate. Does not impress, but goes well down though.

Golden and very clear. Slightly sweet but overall quite well balanced. Doesn’t have that cheap over sweet taste that many European Strong Lagers have. I was surprisingly impressed by this one.

Bottled (Tnx Totte!) Light golden color, small quickly vanishing head. Smells like hay. Alcohol overdomintes in this one. Some hops in flavour but alcohol strikes very much .
