Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

12oz bottle part of "beers of world"variety 10 pack.. pours a very cloudy golden with a spotty head.. smells very chemical and pungent distinct maltiness, the alcohol whiff is overwhelming to the nose. shot to the palate is heavy and metallic.. overwhelming alcoholic malts leave me with the onslaught of heartburn and thats never a good thing.. too many haymakers and not enough jabs in this fighter lager.. not that great.

Amber/gold body. Grainy, metallic taste with some sweetness near the back of the palate. Bitter alcoholic finish.

According to amount of alcohol I thought the taste would have been more alcohol tasting and bitter. Afterall works best when served cold as possible with snacks for ex...

The elephant is golden with a nice head and an aroma like wet grain. The flavour is sweetish and has a lot of alcohol with a hint of caramel. The bitterness is rather good and last through the finish, well that’s about it... 1688

Pale gold no head. Smells extremely sweet and somewhat skunked. Sweet and unpleasant. Metallic. Cloying. Lingering alcohol.

Light yellow, smells mostly of alcohol. Surprisingly sweet, not as alcoholic flavor as I expected. Not too good, though. Metallic.

Although lager is a simple style, it will always be a special beer to me. I also like the idea of brewing anything this strong.
