Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Bottle. It says "Contains Sulfites" right on the label, which should give anyone a clue about it’s aroma and taste. Unless you like beer-flavored sulfur, avoid at all costs.

Good yeasty slightly sweet smell. The color is a deep straw, decent head. Good bitter hop, and lively carbonation. Good full palate.

50cl can from a little store in Hesingør. Deep gold with almost no head. Sweet and alcoholic aroma. Tastes almost the same with a harsh alcoholic aftertaste. At least it avoids the veggie flavor of sort guld, but it’s pretty awful in its own way.

Single 11.2 oz bottle from Total Wine here in Jacksonville, FL. It has this weird best before number code of 20710713...I wonder what the hell that means? The front label also says "Imported Malt Liquor". Yikes. The dreaded green bottle strikes again...or does it? Let’s see. Pours a golden orange color with a slight head. Aroma is light and intriguing. Taste is...wait, that’s not that bad. I’m surprised. Taste is sweet from the honey and it hides the alcohol taste nicely. I’m stunned. Did I get the one good bottle that made it to America in time?

10/6/07: Bottle.
Golden tan body with a white, creamy head. Skunky nose with a touch of barnyard. Nasty flavor of stale hop, honey and lemon. Sticky finish and a bit tingly on the tongue.

It came in a four pack. And as a freshmen in college, it seemed like the most alcoholic beer in the cooler. It wasn’t. But for some reason (strong lager?) we thought it was.

Wow, this stuff tastes like garbage. Avoid at all costs. Turpentine mixed with metal taste.

Luzern, 07. This one is pretty nasty. The most dominant taste here is of alcohol and has a bitter/metallic finish that will haunt you for days. Avoid this beer.
