Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

orange / yellow color. Was acidic with a bitter aftertaste. Not my idea of a strong Lager. I won’t forget this beer because of the taste it left in my mouth. Wouldn’t buy or drink this one again.

Not really that impressed with this one. I’ve had many pale lagers that are much better than this guy is. Was expensive too - 9 dollars for a six pack. Ouch. I’ll pay 6 dollars for a 6 pack of Yuengling and be in better shape.

They sell this in 4 packs of half-liters for $3? In New York, these are 2 bucks for an 11.2 ounce bottle. I won’t be buying more at that price. There is a brassy color and a light head. The aroma is moderately yeasty with a little spice. It is velvety with a light burr on the tongue. Is this the same as Beer Chang (also made by Carlsberg), which I enjoyed a great deal in Thailand? This is one of the best malt liquors I can think of, but it is not worlds above the cheap junk. It is not very interesting, but they don’t skimp on the alcohol - it makes for solid drinking.

Bottel.33cl. A beer that i used to drink in my younger days, but no more, it is to sweet to thin, to alcoholic, well it is no good.

Pours a cloudy yellowish/orange squash color. Head is super thick, and hangs on for dear life a long, long time. Smells of sweet metallic flowers. Tastes very sweet. Surprisingly the high alcohol content doesn’t show. No burn in the throat or corn flavor. Has a bitter but pleasant after-taste. This is malty, but you can’t really taste the malt. You can see it and feel it, but not taste it. Strange. This isn’t bad and at $2.19 for a 4 pack of 16.9 ounce cans (Woodmans in Kenosha, WI on 08/29/2007) it makes a Jim Dandy alcohol delivery system.

this was the first beer I drank that had a real kick when I was a kid... never liked the taste and still find it too alcohol heavy

Pours a bizarre luminescent orange. Smells of acid and metal shavings. Overly sweet and cloying taste. Pretty bloody awful.
