Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

I used to pick up a few bottles of this on the Germany-Denmark ferries before i got back on the tourbus. They helped knock me out for the trip to scandinavia. It is sweet, but not unpleasantly so. Slightly malty. Good. I like it, but i feel my judgement may be clouded by circumstances.

Bottle, 33 cl. Yellow color, white head. Aroma: malt and alcohol. Taste light hops, sweet, little bitter. Light to medium body. Not a great beer.

Tastes more like a 40 than anything else. However, it tastes better than most malt liquors if not all. I think its overhyped, as it is way too expensive for what i got.

For those of you who have never ridden the elephant, let me suffice to say that you don’t want to. Really awful stuff. Picked up a sixer at the local grocery outlet. Should have gone with the jug wine.

Floral, hoppy aroma. Somewhat cloudy appearance with decent head retention. Decent flavor with a smooth mouthfeel and a sweet aftertaste. Some alcohol warming. A little like other malt liquors I have tasted, only better.

Forms a nice and, considering the brewery, a formidable and long-lasting head. The aroma is quite sweet, with an assertive maliness and a little hop-thing. The taste is not that sweet, considering the style, but quite balanced and, in fact, easy drinkable. I managed to pour 5 of these babies in under 60 minuttes on one occasion (a bit juvenile, but it really proves the drinkability of the beer. Or mayby just bad influence from my buddies...) Anyway, it’s not bad, and far better than it’s lousy reputation.

Bottle. aroma is of skunky hops, tastes is fairly bland, tastes like a typical euro macro. Seriously do we need more boring green bottled macros? If you haved one you have had them all.

Aroma of skunk, sun-struck hops. Taste is skunky with a nauseating malt sweetness. The only positive thing I can say is that the alcohol is masked fairly well.
