Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Dark yellow with a white head. This could be a crap lager, but definitely has mat liquor sweetness to it, which I do not enjoy. Balanced by respectable bitter hops, something like Heineken. Overall, not enjoyable. Picked up a 6 of this from the Safeway in McLean, VA.

Dark yellow, disappearing white head. Grain, grass and weak alcohol aroma. Sweet, somewhat malty flavour with nothing to balance it.

Fairly indistinguishable from all the other beers that look and taste exactly like this. I don’t know what else to say.

Bottle. Very light amber with decent white head. Nice malty aroma with a weak bitterness. Flavor is rather sweet malt and some alcohol. Average finish.

12 oz. bottle- color of clear bright yellow , with a white medium head - nose of hay , skunk , slight hopps , banana , sweet corn and copper – taste of hay , skunk , hopps , and sweet - body well carbonated , and light – aftertaste of sweet corn , bitter , and gummy – but love the 7.2%

This beer has a lot in common with the usual pale lager. There’s almost always a bit of skunky metallic-ness, and this has that in the aroma, along with some sugar, grain and corn. Tastes pretty similar, but surprisingly not light, and it has a strong hoppy finish. Bitter, but not piney or citrusy. This beer washed down my roast beef sandwich pretty perfectly, and I think that’s the best context for this.

Pours with a cloudy orange tint. Aroma does not have a cirtus hint however, but instead is quite malty. The taste has a full body, much like other carlsberg varieties and finishes with a lingering taste of yeast. Not bad for a malt liquor I suppose though I don’t enjoy the aftertaste.

Cold 11.2oz bottle: Pours a hazy light golden orange color with a small amount of alabaster bubbles around the edges. Aroma is of light sweet malts, grassy hops, lemon and honey. Taste is of an excellent blend of sweet malts and grassy hops. Light bodied, smooth and well carbonated. Ending is of earth, lemon and honey.
