Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Had this on draft in Italy, poors out a light orange, with a medium sized head. The aroma and taste is dominated by wheats and malts, and is somewhat fruity. The alcohol is not too apparent in the aftertaste, but its there. Overall this malt liquor isn’t too good, and doesn’t really give malt liquors a better name.

Bleh, over the top ’straw’ aroma and flavor. Just too much of it that I couldn’t get past. No thanks.

This malt liquor pours a deep orange color from a 330ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is corn, grain, malt and sweet. A medium bodied malt liquor. Malts are fruity, sweet, grainy and grassy. It is sweet, thin and harsh tasting, with a very noticeable alcohol bite. A Euro-Malt liquor: nuff said? Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is harsh and crisp. Aftertaste is sweet and alcoholic.

Clear yellow coloured, lots of carbonation with an average white head. Sweet hoppyn little herby citruslike aroma, Full sweet body with a thick texture. Finish is light bitter-sweet, mineral like thick beerwith some hints of alcohol and a little dry-chalky even salty near the end. Not at all what I expected, great disappointment.

Bottle. Pours pale golden with a decent sized white head. Aroma of alcohol, sweet malts, hops, and grain. Flavor is bitter, grainy, alcohol is noticeable. Good body, decent brew.

From 33cL Bottle. Pours the clear transparent color of golden corn with a tall, soapy head. Skunky, green bottled aroma of sour hay bale and college fraternity party. Thin, lightly carbonated body with the astringent flavor of stale lemon rind and dry straw. Finish is bitter and smacks of dead grass. Basically, I only bought this because it was the highest rated example of this style accessible to me. Having used many a malt liquor in the past as a vessel to get drunk, I was hoping to find a semi-drinkable version suitable for a tasting and rating. I was wrong; drain pour.

Golden colour with a small white head. Clearly overrated beer, like so many others from Carlberg.

Hazy yellow with a white head and decent retention. Sweet and grassy aroma. Corn, alcohol and a dry finish. I don’t see the big difference between a Belgian Tripel and alot of these malt liquors (like this one).
