Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Bottle. Golden colour with thn white head. Some hop some lemon but mostly a syrupy stong alcohol smell. However, for all that I quite liked it in a funny way. Does what it says on the tin

My buddy Cornfield assures me that I should be rating malt liquors (I started with Dogfishhead ML though) Carbonation reminds of a pilsener. Too sweet and lingering in the aftertaste. We used to say that they called it Elephant Beer because after the third one it felt like an elephant stepped on your head.

Bottle. Clear, golden beer. I was really disppointed with this beer, as it was some kind of happening when we got to drink this beer in my youth. Not much aroma, and the taste is like a common "industrial" lager, only some more hops, and a little alcohol taste. The aftertaste stays for some time, it just crawls around your mouth, but there’s nothing else special to this beer. (050906)

Clear and golden with little head. Very malty aroma with some skunkiness. Rough tobacco flavor with some harsh bitterness. Some floral hop flavor intermingled with cigarette ash. Astringent finish. Malt liquor for the Hamptons?

My friends and I call this one "imported elephant" because the word imported is so large on the six packs. All in all....it’s not too bad....when you pit it against steel reserve. It’s skunky. It’s bland. It;s pretty bad...if you want something cheap and bad, buy something in a 40.

Pale gold. Huge, bubbly, white head. Malt, alcohol in the aroma. Taste is much better than the aroma. Malty, grainy, a touch of sweetness, and a little alcohol. A bit creamy in texture, light/medium body, not too much carbonation helps accentuate the sweet flavor and creamy texture. Not bad at all for the style, drinkable.
