Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

very skunky smell but this wasn’t bad, a bland kind of beer like I might expect from Bud or Rolling Rock.

My first malt liquor! Thanks to Jacob L for recommending this. Gold in colour, with a white head. Horribly shitty astringent malt flavours. Harsh, unrefined and undrinkable.

A glowing medium yellow-gold hue with a tall, creamy and rocky white head. There a lot of strange aromas going on in here...hay, sugar, fusels, corn, alcohol, dust, uncooked broccoli. Distinctly sweet flavor with a tangy acidity and a light finishing bitterness. The sugary sweetness keeps this beer’s head above water for me. Moderate alcohol. Off flavors are limited to the odd aromas, but are never truly offensive even when the beer warms. Medium body with a creamy texture that’s somewhat broken up by fizzy carbonation.

This packs a punch! But surprisingly you don’t realize it until you are halfway through. Very mellow, with good hop bitterness. The more you drink, the better it gets. Had this in France on tap. Pretty good stuff.

Ahh,The mighty elephant(hehe)I haven’t had this in years and a friend passed one on to me.It’s disturbing that it says contains sulfites but..This beer was not skunky,it was alright,a little rough around the edged but not bad,I was drinking Prima pilsners before so my palate is a bit gone but.. this is good in good in small doses,I’d of all people would say(drink extra cold!).I just remember this one packing a bad, extra sickly hangover back in the day, I was weary to have one.I should survive this one right?Aromas and characters of a pilsner with some heat and sweet(once warm,Beat)----Pete

Goddam green bottle. Clear gold color, medium white head. Go figure, it’s skunky as hell. This bottle wasn’t even that old and I picked it out from the back of the fridge so the light didn’t have too much of a chance to effect it but it sure did. This was rancid anyway, harsh, thick and very rough around the edges. Alcohol is noticible and not welcome. Ugh.

Aroma of malts and hops, bit skunky. Clear, yellow coloured with a lasting, thin, white head. Taste is sweet, malty and hoppy. A bit alcohol in the finish but overall reasonable hidden. Not too bad for a malt liquor. I expected worse.
