Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Aroma of malts and hops, bit skunky. Clear, yellow coloured with a lasting, thin, white head. Taste is sweet, malty and hoppy. A bit alcohol in the finish but overall reasonable hidden. Not too bad for a malt liquor. I expected worse.

Pour is a bright golden with a big white head. Aroma is skunk even though this sample was still within the fresh date. Flavor is a thick corn syrup and malt combo. The liquid even feels syurpy on the swallow. In the end you get the dose of alcohol. Nothing to go out and look for.

RR Jan 2006 (+2pts): Holds a surprisingly large head. Brilliant light rusty orange in the glass, almost seems illuminated. Sweet malt nose, good enough but lacks interest. Very similar palate but the 7.2% is obvious, but in a good way. Firming warm, a little bitter and hard, but has some finish. Not bad.

Dark golden, lots of carbonation. Aroma is kinda starchy, but much less malt liquor than I though it would be. Flavor is actually not at all what I expected. Mouthfeel is pale lager-ish, but not as harsh as the typical malt liquor. Lots of lace on the glass.

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with a creamy head. Soft, malty body with a lot of sweetness. Distinct bitterness. A true Danish classic, and better than it’s reputation. 290102

(Bottle 33 cl) Swedish version brewed by Falcon Bryggerier. Nicely fully golden with a dense head. Very marked, hoppy aroma. Full-bodied with the alcohol being a bit too dominant making it a bit hard to drink. 5/3/5/2/10=2,5 040801

Very nice and good strong allround beer. One of the best Carlsberg is making (on their own brand) Very nice label on bottles. Very good or perfect together with Danish "Smřrrebrřd" which are a special lunch thing in Denmark

pours golden with a nice large white head, aromas of malt, some skunkiness, metal kinda unpleasant, taste of some sweetness up front followed by some bitterness and lots of carbonation, not a bad beer, but nothing great.

Have you ever seen the size of an Elephants balls? No? Well he has have massive ones to drink this stuff. Smooth with a bitter taste. Nice color and goes down smoother than a baby’s ass.
