Commercial Description:
Pasteurised strong lager.
First brewed in 1959. Sold in a 330ml bottle in 1989 as "the beer you will never forget". In May 1996 Elephant Beer was repackaged into an emerald green 275ml bottle.
UK version is brewed at the Carlsberg Northampton brewery.
Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

A golden beer with a nice head that lingers. It has a very nice aroma of sweet malt. The flavor is primarily that of malt - but without the sweetness and it ends on a nice hoppy bitterness. For a beer of it’s strength it’s suprising that You don’t taste the alcohol more than hints of it. It is a very filling beer - an OK beer

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with a creamy head. Soft, malty body with a lot of sweetness. Distinct bitterness. A true Danish classic, and better than it’s reputation. 290102

(Bottle 33 cl) Swedish version brewed by Falcon Bryggerier. Nicely fully golden with a dense head. Very marked, hoppy aroma. Full-bodied with the alcohol being a bit too dominant making it a bit hard to drink. 5/3/5/2/10=2,5 040801

50 cL bottle. Pours golden yellow to orange with a quickly disappearing white head. Sweet malty aroma. Soft mouthfeel. Almost raisin sweet flavour. Nice sweet finish. Very well made but has to be served at max 10 C otherwise it gets cloying.

Golden coloured. Light bodied, overly sweet, fruity and very alcoholic. No hops detected. The original cheap get-drunk-fast beer for pre-pubescent teenagers.

Bottled. Golden colour, medium white bubbly head, which disappears quickly. Aroma of malt and alcohol with hints of hoppy bitterness. Sweet malt in flavour with hints of alcohol and grassiness. Typical strong beer, nothing special. Bitter aftertaste.
