Stale hops taste reminds me of a badly made pils without the bite. Saarlander (1579), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

Brewed by Carlsberg Malaysia only?
Golden color, small white head. Malty with some maize hints. Starts kind of harsh malty, then finish is sweet. Quite basic bulk lager - and I had to travel all way to Kuala Lumpur for this. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Sep 15, 2005 Bottle. My employee brought this back from Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia for me. Basic lager aroma. Not bad. Crystal clear pale gold with a few strands of steady carbonation rising to the top. Avg.-sized white head quickly diminishes but keeps a thin layer on top for awhile at least. Initial mouthfeel tastes like it smells, but the flavor is quickly fleeting. Thin and fairly innocuous, but by no means offensively bad like the average ratings would indicate. In fact, the bottom 50 beers on Ratebeer start at 1.22 and go down from there. This beer’s score is 1.23, so it is dangerously close to joining that dubious class. I’m just not sure it deserves to be that low. It’s not a great beer, but it isn’t a god awful bad beer either. At 5.6% ABV, it’s a little lower in alcohol than I would have guessed for an Ice beer. I had a Tiger beer right before this, and where that was smooth and enjoyable, this is simply not all that enjoyable. There isn’t enough here to keep the palate interested, but there is some Ratebeer bias, ice beer bias, and macro-Carlsberg bias going on here as well. Not saying it’s a good beer by any stretch, just not as awful as people are saying. I didn’t drain pour it. Nightfall (647), Athens, Greece
| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Jul 4, 2005 One of the worst (if not the worst) beers that I tried. It’s as if you have add yellow color and some alcohol to water. Worst than a bud. Practically undrinkable ! imdownthepub (5148), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England

Another beer I haven’t rated and I found it in the Isetan supermarket in the twin towers comlex in Kuala Lumpur. Wow, is this ever worth the 8 ringgit!!! Pale, very low nose presnece and almost no body. Outside, in the high humidity and drunk icy cold this could be ok. But for consumption for taste and flavour no chance. Not a bad bottle and surprising that an ice beer is in a brown bottle.
