Very dark golden (unfortunately partly from added coulourants) with lots of caramel malt in both aroma and flavour. Very full-bodied with a good hoppy finish for balance. Delicious beer. 270300 madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark

Dusty. .I newer really liked this beer, but aging sure hasn’t helped anything. Dusty, fruity, plum aroma. Flavour is marcipany, sweet and old with prunes aftertaste. Peppery flavour, some malt. Good body. Taste is also quite oxidized, but not too bad after 10 years. Probably very nice when fresh. Ungstrup (15258), Frederiksberg, Denmark

The aroma is of oranges and alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with notes of oranges and chocolate combined with alcohol running over the tongue. A fantastic experience - it has really kept well 42 years old! Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 23, 2004 Vintage 1962 bottle - Tasted in the cellar of the Carlsberg Brewery (served in a ½-litre plastic glas!!). I was very anxious to try this very old beer. The beer came pouring out of the bottle when it was opened. The color of the body was a dark hazy amber/brown with a foamy off-white head. Vinous aroma, sweet with notes of chocolate (!). Very full, almost like dessert wine. Malty and fruity flavor also with obvious chocolate notes and some caramel and nut. Surprisingly mild and not near as heavy and substantial as expected. A soft and smooth and tasty beer that had matured nicely. I hope I get a change to try this again one day!! mattduling (64), Fairmont, West Virginia, USA
