07 vintage. Pours a hazy brown with a light yellow head. Fruity of prunes and plums. Alcohol in the finish with some bitterness. 2005 vintage. Pours a clear brown with an off-white head. Smells portish. Fruity flavors of prunes. Sweet and full. Nice and mellow. Strong portish finish. Well rounded. Improves a lot with age.

Bottle. Off-white small head. Red unclear body. Black curant aroma. Smooth caramel flavor. Not the expected alcohol flavor. Thanks!

Bottle - trade with chris_o. A mahogany coloured beer with no head to speak of. The aroma is fruity with banana notes together with a little toffee and some alcohol. The taste is quite authentic Dubbel but rather thin in the body. Good fruit and malt notes and nice alcohol levels. Enjoyable but not a World beater.

70 cl bottle. Yeast in bottom. Brown colour with a nice head. Sweet light spicy aroma with notes of berry and toffee. Complex flavour, not a very powerful abbey ale, but very smooth and easy drinking.

I was hoping for better things from this famous brewery. The smell is somewhat artificial, with pineapple, caramel, yeast, and some very evident metallic associations. The taste was a bitter and uncomplicated, overly simple impression. Refreshing, but not very rewarding in terms of flavor or mouthfeel. No evident alcohol in either the taste or the nose. Perhaps a bit too fizzy.
