It has a lot of everything in one nice package. japet (38), Denmark

A little bit of caramel in the aroma, nice head and a very good flavor. I do not hope that this is only a experiment from Carlsberg, but a beer I can get in the future too. The taste is very strong and contains both alcohol and berry fractures. Very well balanced. The head is not very long-lasting. The brew has a very nice red/amber colour and is only available in 70cl. bottles. brinksby99 (1), Denmark does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 29, 2002 The Semper Arden project is fantastic. The Abbey ale is a very good attempt to brew a danish "belgian" ale. Well done Carlsberg andershn (90), Copenhagen, Denmark

The strong aroma was noticeable the moment the beer was poured and contained elements of malt and fruitiness, especially banana. The liquid itself was brown and hazy with a decent, tan head. Well-balanced taste with elements of sweet malt and banana, and a smooth, lasting bitter aftertaste. Also good balance in carbonation and alcohol. Really great beer and probably best of the Semper Ardens series. madsberg (5060), Søborg, Denmark

The aroma is complex, as others points out. Pleasant sweetness and flowers comes to my mind. The flavour is wellbalanced with sweetness, notes of sour and spices. I find so caramel as well In the aftertaste there is a pleasant and mild bitterness. This is not what you usually expect from Carlsberg, so i"ve saved it for my rating #100, and for sure I was not disapointed. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England

Copper colour, slightly hazy, moderate head that doesn’t last very long. Lovely aroma of dark fruits and spices. Malty and slightly spicy flavour, could have been more complex but is still very good. Pleasant aftertaste. They have used Saazer hops for this beer, nothing wrong with that, but additional hop varieties would probably have brought the beer closer to "perfect". Still, quality is of course lightyears ahead of what most people know as "Carlsberg".
