It has a very nice aroma of rowan berries and porse(?). The taste is slightly bitter but fresh and that of rowan berries. You don’t taste it’s high alcohol content. Definately a great beer. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 13, 2005 (Bottle 70 cl) Clear light brown with a reddish glow. Very small head that vanishes completely leaving no traces whatsoever. Extremely dry with a distinct bitterness. The added rowan berries and bog myrtle adds an unpleasant herbal, almost medicinal tang - a bit like cough syrup or the Danish bitter "Gammel Dansk". By far the poorest Semper Ardens, and a clear disappointment. 270902 yespr (12320), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2007 70 cL bottle, 2003 vintage at Jacobsen from the Carlsberg cellar. Pours visible to slight hazy deep orange with a light brown to yellow dense head. Aroma is smooth dried fruity. Flavour has a mild earthy and woody tone. Flavour is really smooth, also the mouthfeel. Ends with a mild nutty note to a warming finish. Smooth brew - again an example of a how the Semper Ardens brews win on ageing. omhper (12247), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2002 Brownish amber colour. Sweet aroma with rowan beries very evident. Soft mouthfeel, pleasantly malty, hints of toffee and big licorice-like flavour from the bog myrtle. Rather low bitterness. The finish is dominated by the berry flavour. A good and unusual beer. fonefan (11818), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Bottle, 7.1%. Clear and shiny dark amber colour. Stable tan head. The flavour is sweetish and caramelly with a little anis notes and a hint of rough malt. There are also some pepper notes. Not so complex, but nice enough. joergen (8623), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Clear orange coloured with a medium sized off white head.
Sweet aroma of caramel, malts and hay with notes of dried fruits.
Sweet flavour of caramel, malts, dried fruits and hops.
Hoppy finish.
It’s seems like the recipe is changed from the 1. to the 2. edition. As far as I remember the first edition, the rowan berries was very dominating.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2002 Rowan berries? Bog myrtle? I knew this was a bit different...dark amber; large caramel malt nose; candyish (but in a good way, for a change), slightly tinny, interesting character. Malt flavours hard to describe (stupid small samples).
