Commercial Description:
Star anise and coriander, combined with a Danish ale yeast give the beer a distinct Christmas flavour of ripe fruit, liquorice and spices.

Bottle. 2004 brew. A bit murky. Impressive big head. Matured nicely in bottle. Well rounded. Lots of fruit and spice in taste.

Merry christmas? Well not with this one I’m sad to say. An average xmas beer- anis taste and a bit malty.

Bottle thanks to Dickinsonbeer at RLB’s YEHA ’05. Cloudy brown color with a small beige head. Sweet and spicy aroma of coriander, brown sugar and black licorice. Malty flavor with some caramel, black licorice, coriander and yeast.

Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for bringing this to the Yeha. Poured a murky brown with an off-white head. Spicy aroma of anise and cinnamon though with a touch of bubble gum that I found unappealing. Taste is sweet and spicy caramel and cloves with a dry finish. Pretty straight-forward christmas ale.

Poured a darker and cloudy brownish color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of light spices, caramel and toffee. Tastes of caramel, nuts, lighter spices and toffee. Body on the thinner side.

Poured a hazy brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, earthy yeast, nuts and light spices. Taste of caramel malt, nuts, light roast, anise, light citrus fruits, and peppery alcohol in the finish. Thinner than average mouthfeel.

I had high expectations from this Christmas ale, but the taste is much too bitter to my liking and is is not aromatic enough. Too bad.

Bottled. Muddy dark brown. Toffee, sugar and alcohol in aroma. Fruity, rich malty, fluffy mouthfeel, fiery alcohol flavour/mouthfeel with notes of anise and also a little peppery from the big abv. Pretty long finish.
