Commercial Description:
Star anise and coriander, combined with a Danish ale yeast give the beer a distinct Christmas flavour of ripe fruit, liquorice and spices.

Nice bottle and label design. Beige head medium sized and short lasting. Misty dark amber colour with corners of red. Aroma of spices and malt. Rather sweet flavour of brown sugar, nuts and caramel, notes of anis and licorice is precent. Medium bodiet. Medium lasting caramel finish. Too unbalanced to the sweet side for my beer taste.

A carlsberg try of making a christmas-brew of high quality. Not so succes-full. The spicyness is too sharp and unpleasent.

70 cl bottle vintage 2005. Yeast in bottom. reddish brown colour with a weak creamy head. Very nice aroma of complex spice. Hints of alcohol. Very sweet flavour with notes of kandis, spice and some caramel. Ends up with a warm finish from the alcohol.

Bottled. 2004-vintage. Nice beige head on top of a reddish-brown beer. Sweet, alcoholic aroma. Sweet and spicy flavor, with the usual christmas-spices. Long, warming and sweet finish. Probably the best of the Semper Ardens beers, and a year on bottle don’t harm it. (051104)

(Bottle 2005 version) Well, praise should be given when it’s due. And this is a very nice beer.. A discreet aroma with some sweet, malty and spicy notes. Flavor is not discreet. There’s almost too much flavor. Almost too many spices and almost too much malt. But there’s definitely flavor here, which isn’t a given.

Bottle 2005. Small quickly dying head. Dark red brown. Medicine aroma, Anis, caramel, coriander, complex flavor with sweetness and long aftertaste.

Great head, nice brown-orange muddy color. Sweet and slightly bitter flavor, has a good taste and is a distinct x-mas beer.
