The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol and cardemomme. The flavor also contains strong notes of alcohol and cardemomme as well as other spices. An OK beer, but for being a product of the Semper Ardens series, I’m disappointed. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Hazy with a small sediment. Delicately spiced e.g. with star aniseed and dark cane sugars. Shiploads of malts in here with fine notes of dried fruits. An excellent offering from Carlsberg and the best in their Semper Ardens Range. 251004 yespr (12407), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 11, 2007 66 cL bottle (sampled each year since the first release in 75 cL bottles). Pours redish brown, clear, with a little creamy and slight orange head. Aroma is mildly spiced and holds a promise of sweet caramel malt. Flavour is caramel malt, only mildly sweet, a bit of spices - I cannot make out which exact ones it holds. Has a sharp note just before the finish which holds a decent bitterness. fonefan (11885), VestJylland, Denmark

A taste of toffee in the beginning turning into a light bitter anise taste. Quite long finish, alcohol showing. Very nice danish christmas beer.

Flavour is very full, sweet, spicy and peppery. Sweet dry fruit flavour. Mouthfeel is sirupy like too strong pale lager. Too sweet and sticky for my liking.
The bottled version, however, was a lot better. Didn’t seem quite as sweet and cloying, even though the mouthfeel was still very thick. joergen (8632), Frederiksberg, Denmark
