Commercial Description:
Star anise and coriander, combined with a Danish ale yeast give the beer a distinct Christmas flavour of ripe fruit, liquorice and spices.

[At Jyske Øldage 2004, Kolding] An unclear orange-brown beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol and cardemomme. The flavor also contains strong notes of alcohol and cardemomme as well as other spices. An OK beer, but for being a product of the Semper Ardens series, I’m disappointed.

(Bottle 70 cl) Reddish golden with a light brown head. Hazy with a small sediment. Delicately spiced e.g. with star aniseed and dark cane sugars. Shiploads of malts in here with fine notes of dried fruits. An excellent offering from Carlsberg and the best in their Semper Ardens Range. 251004

66 cL bottle (sampled each year since the first release in 75 cL bottles). Pours redish brown, clear, with a little creamy and slight orange head. Aroma is mildly spiced and holds a promise of sweet caramel malt. Flavour is caramel malt, only mildly sweet, a bit of spices - I cannot make out which exact ones it holds. Has a sharp note just before the finish which holds a decent bitterness.

Bottle. Dark amber brown color with a long lasting head. A taste of toffee in the beginning turning into a light bitter anise taste. Quite long finish, alcohol showing. Very nice danish christmas beer.

Draught. Cloudy, slightly muddy chestnut colour. Aroma of anis. Flavour is very full, sweet, spicy and peppery. Sweet dry fruit flavour. Mouthfeel is sirupy like too strong pale lager. Too sweet and sticky for my liking.

The bottled version, however, was a lot better. Didn’t seem quite as sweet and cloying, even though the mouthfeel was still very thick.

Brown colour with a fine beige head. Sweet christmas-aroma dominated by raisins and spices especially cinnamon. Flavour is dominated by cinnamon.

Dark color, amber to mahogany, big head. The beer is based on caramel, smooth and quite sweet. Pleasant without being exciting.

Hazy red brown with short lasting off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, overripe fruits and spices. Flavor comes out sweet with spicy and fruity notes.
