Draught in Jindabyne. Dark brown with small creamy head. Syrupy nose. Sweet and lightly roasty with clean, hard mouthfeel. Soem soapy hops leads to a drier finish with low bitterness. Inoffensive.

Pours a dark mahogany with a thin light-tan head. Toasty, lightly burnt dark caramel malty aroma. Body starts with a sweet sugary earthy caramel flavor turning slightly sticky toward a thinner lightly roasted finish. An ok porter and not as bad as its ratings might imply.

Ok to chug away, doesn’t blow you away with flavour, but its quite alright, good chocolte and slightly roasty malt flavours, but a bit light on.

Poured a clear dark golden brown with a small beige head. The aroma is roasty and very fruity with a touch of chocolate and notes of bubble gum. The flavor consists of roasted malt and some fruitiness that is mainly of grape candy. Dry finish that is a little thin.

Without giving it extra time and effort that it doesn’t deserve, I will summerize by saying it is about as lifeless as a dark beer can be. Toohey’s Old, but one step behind. If you are really after a nice dark beer, spend the money on something that actually has some character and flavour. Is it an inside joke that this is called a porter by RateBeer?

Draft, at the Royal Hotel, Randwick, Sydney Aus.
Jet black (darker than Toohey’s Old, its head-to-head competitor) with a off-white head. Plenty of fizz. The flavour is slightly sweet with little flavour left on the palate after the initial sweet surge.
