This beer has an amazing after taste without any hint of the heavyness that tends to come with dark/black beers.

I was very surprised to like this one. Normally the only CUB beer I like is VB (because it and I have a long history together), but this one stood out for me. I had it on draft on a hot day, and I found that it drank like a lager whilst having that roasted barley flavour of the stouts - a nice little combination. I’ll try it again soon and see if I wasn’t just swept up in the circumstance of the time.

Pours a dark mahogany with a thin light-tan head. Toasty, lightly burnt dark caramel malty aroma. Body starts with a sweet sugary earthy caramel flavor turning slightly sticky toward a thinner lightly roasted finish. An ok porter and not as bad as its ratings might imply.

A not too bad darker beer. MOre flavour than tooheys old but still not really a stout. Its not very malty and overall a little bland.

Doesnt seem to have as much body or head to it when first offered on tap a few years back. At first, like others have noted its a bit watery then the roasted malt flavours come out. Got Better as the chill went out of it.

Draft, at the Royal Hotel, Randwick, Sydney Aus.
Jet black (darker than Toohey’s Old, its head-to-head competitor) with a off-white head. Plenty of fizz. The flavour is slightly sweet with little flavour left on the palate after the initial sweet surge.

Poured a clear dark golden brown with a small beige head. The aroma is roasty and very fruity with a touch of chocolate and notes of bubble gum. The flavor consists of roasted malt and some fruitiness that is mainly of grape candy. Dry finish that is a little thin.

Ok to chug away, doesn’t blow you away with flavour, but its quite alright, good chocolte and slightly roasty malt flavours, but a bit light on.
