Commercial Description:
Carlton Cold was launched in 1993 and enjoys a significant share of the packaged full-strength beer segment. Cold is produced with a cold-filtration process, pioneered in Australia by Carlton & United Breweries and is also the first beer in Australia to be packaged in clear glass and the only beer packaged in unbreakable PET bottles.

The most remarkable thing about this beer is its head: white, very slow to disappear and leaves a white foam mountain on top of the body (I had to shake the glass to make it disappear). Otherwise, it gives an overall impression of blandness; this must be the Australian equivalent of a Budweiser or a Michelob. Probably good to quench your thirst on a hot +mas day down under, but otherwise not worth drinking for the sake of it taste, which is near-nonexistent.

(on bottle)Sorry, but after a big talk we had to land on the the first impression; it smells of cold urin. As for flavor it has no nothing at all, impressing.

Bottled - Uninteresting, very slightly hopped with that poor artificial look and taste that comes from cold filtered beer. For the price I’d try Melbourne Bitter, or piss in a cup instead

»Clean crisp fresh taste« the top says. Surely they mean "bland boring watery taste"!?

Dark yellow, urine type colouring with a thick frothy white head. Very light carbonated, chemical type of aroma. Bitter, but unoffensive. Nothing special with this brew, except they go down well after a long hot day at work.

I don’t get it? Why import something this crappy? We have enough bad beers, why start importing it and overprice it...oh! That’s the trick sell it and earn some money on this bad beer. Why buy it? Nice label on the neck and a special bottle. This beer is yellow, medium head. Aroma and flavor is odd, wrong, and unpleasent. Don’t buy.

Gold thin beverage. BIt of carbonation and a long lasting but slightly clupy merangue-like head. Bit of lacing. Thin but slighly bad-vegetable-like aroma. The first one tasted ghastly, but to be fair a second one seemed to go down smoother. When I picked it up at the liquor store, as a new beer to the area, I was given the usual "an Aussie came in and said that this was what Aussies actually drink back home". God help them. Has that bad vegetable and sweetness taste hinted at in the aroma followed by a long lasting bitterness that does not come from hops.
