The battle is lost even before you get this stuff in to your mouth. An off rotting type smell that does nothing to help the palate. Still it does have a good clear golden look with a nice gold label.
All in All probably the worst beer in Australia other then Tooheys Red and its close relation VB.

Darker straw colour than Steinlager. no head.sweet malty taste, slight mild bitteness. Still Steinlager was better, (only just). Only good thing going for it is the bottle!!!! strappa (55), Hobart, Australia

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 21, 2005 Okay, I’ve been living in Oz for 6 months and I’ve come to realize that each of the big brewers has a version of the "Premium Lager", the top selling of which are Cascade, Boag’s, Hahn, and Crown. In my opinion, only the first two have anything to offer over the many other cheaper mass-marketed pale lagers. Of these two, I prefer Cascade because it has more of a hoppy palate and dry finish, but Boag’s Premium is nice too. Hahn Premium and Crown Lager (by Carlton) are both entirely average, and in a blind taste test I’m not sure I could tell them apart from other average pale lagers out there, such as Fosters, Toohey’s New, and the like. omhper (12261), Stockholm, Sweden

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 14, 2005 Updated: Jun 16, 2005(Bottle 37,5 cl) I had this years ago in Oz. Around the Millennium I saw it in one Danish supermarked, but then it vanished. Only to reappear in Denmark last year - I guess it had to do with the royal wedding, our very own crown prince marrying an Aussie las. Well, all this story-telling about a beer that hasn’t really anything going for itself. A completely bland pale lager. Fully golden colour, pretty much absent head. Some sweetness from the malt, medium body. But actually the packaging is the most interesting about this beer. Thanx to pjk33 and highlandlad for your to-the-point remarks on this. 210304 PintTester (11), USA
