Let’s just say that I didn’t reach for this one first. Sorry Uncle Don. To me, this is the Michelob of Australia. They price it higher and sell people on it because the label is gold and the bottle is shaped differently. Not a good beer, just a remarkably average one. VB is way better as far as I’m concerned. This beer is not memorable. From it’s light golden color with no head or lace to its macro-like taste, to its over carbonated light body, it is a boring beer without much to talk about. highlandlad (1278), Sydney, Australia
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Beer designed by a marketing department to sell to other people in marketing. Image is all with Crown Lager, "Australia’s finest beer". (Joseph Goebbels would have baulked at trying to sell that lie.) Contrary to the marketing angle, Crown’s big selling point is that it doesn’t have a "distinctive flavour", which allows the lawyers, brokers and marketers who drink it in fashionable city pubs on Friday nights to pontificate about its "clean flavour". Pours a lager-gold colour with a vanishing head. The nose is dry and hoppy with unpleasant uric characters. Thin-bodied but fizzy. Heavily carbonated. Some malt notes and little or no finish. | 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Nov 10, 2004 A definitve poser drink, Crown lager adds itself more to the bottle design than the beer inside. Overly metallic flavour, little malt tones and an annoying effervescence. More a name than a beer. RichardGretton (3160), Leicestershire, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Standard looking pale lager with a light dry aroma and quite a dry aroma. Overall a very plain beer. NosirIwont (1186), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Sep 18, 2004 Bottle. Golden-yellow with a white head which was in a hurry (dropped in to say hello, but left again immediately). Mild, light hoppy aroma with cereals. Metallic taste. Almost no bitterness. Watery. Your average, uninspirational industrial lager (as I expected, but it was on sale, and hey - it’s another one crossed off the list). vanvenlo (794), Glen Iris, Australia
