Pours golden with a small withe head. Corny malt aroma, no hops. Skunky palate, metlallic finish. Cheap and nasty beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Bottle - thanks sis! Light gold and clear with fine carbonation - better looking than most American light lagers. Light malt aroma, with definite notes of corn and hops. Light malt flavors, with some minerally hops, and doughy / yeasty notes. Finishes fair bready to me. highlandlad (1278), Sydney, Australia
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jan 6, 2006 From the sublime Wig & Pen Velvet Stout to the ridiculous. The ’big ad’ campaign was brilliant and has apparently launched this on the way to becoming Australia’s best-selling beer. Give the marketers a pay rise because there’s precious little in the bottle to distinguish it from a dozen other industrial Australian lagers. Pale gold, perhaps slightly darker than average, with a loose lather that showed fair length. Sweet malty aroma with some cornflakes, lemonade and - surprisingly - more hop presence than the rest of the standard pub line-up. However, in the mouth, it’s the same old same old. Stale cardboardy malt and a sugary mid-palate to take the edge off the POR finish. Quite dry in the finish to ensure you feel like another. Burp inducing carbonation. This is actually better than VB, but not by enough to make much of a difference. (375ml bottle, bb Sep 11 06) tyrrell (10), New Zealand

Although the advice is to serve in a dimpled mug, straight out of the bottle is often preferred.

Sweet nutty taste with boring hop bitterness, about as good as any other Aussie macro junk. Dredd (496), Ormond, Australia

It isn’t too sweet, bitter, malty or fizzy, it is semi flat, slightly hopped and served best cold. very few beers allow you to guzzle 20 pots in a night, but this one does. Yes there is cane sugar and nasty Pride of Ringwood hops, but on a 40 degree day in a beer garden, it is amazingly approachable. That said it still gets a crap rating cos it ain’t that special
