| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2004 Bottled. Had this early on ANZAC day morning. Black with a purply hue. Rich liquorice aroma and flavour which is silky smooth. Lovely drop that I had been looking forward to rating on this trip home. Many thanks to Spamo for buying this beer for me at 10am in the morning. Skip (206), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Not roasty like Murphy's, nor tangy like Guinness, but a very good stout. Properly heavy, but refreshing nonetheless. Really should not be missed, although often overlooked and under rated. Dry, pleasant, not filling.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2004 Dark, typical Stout look. Smells sweet. Taste isn't all that remarkable. Finish isn't as full as I typically like Stouts and I wouldn't buy it again. A more generic lable would be nice. :-D SimonLarsen (210), Sydney, Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2004 Aroma of molasses. This is good because that's what you are going to get. It's black with a tan head. The plaate is nice and soft and I think maybe the real strength of this beer is in it's smooth and soft palate. The flavor is strongly molasses. I know why a lot of people wouldn't like this but I do and I figure all those old guys that are in the pub at 10 am can't be wrong. Jahills (151), Cambridge (Hobart), Australia
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 27, 2003 Very grainy mouthfeel, weaker charred flavour in a black full looking coloured beer. Quite a 1 dimensional beer which is not what youre after in a stout but is by no means the worst. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2003 Bottle. Black color with a foamy light brown head. Toasted malts with an alcohol slash fruit note in the aroma. A straight forward stout without complexity but a fine drink. Gromit (461), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2003 I now understand the difference between a "metalic" aftertaste and a "mineral" aftertaste. This definately has the later of the two.
A very fine stout this is.
This is arguably the most plain bottle of beer I've ever seen. Just an indistinctive brown bottle with a brown label surounding a yellow logo with only the most basic information. I've no idea what's in it or where in Austrialia it's made. It's nice to see a modest beer that doesn't need anything flashy and isn't so full of itself that it claims to be the last beer you'll ever need. The beer itself says all that needs to be said.
Pours black with a tan head (well duh, it's a stout). Nice lace forms down the glass.
Smells of malt and molases with a floral scent. It smells like a good red wine, which is rather odd but pleasent.
Nice dry taste. Roasted hops are the most noticable taste. The mineral aftertaste makes the taste remind me of... red wine. This is *very* complex. I'm almost getting an anejo tequila taste sensation.
Nice and thick mouthfeel that's somewhat creamy, but not like a Guiness/foamy.
I'm leaving the drinkability at 3.5 which was my first impression from the aftertaste, but that may be a bit harsh. I could easily have a few of these and the more of it I drink the more it's growing on me.
