375ml bottle. I have to say, this is pretty poor. It lacks the rich flavour and creamy body of a proper stout, and is merely a typical macro attempt at making a dark beer. What limited flavour there is dark chocolate, but with a slightly off-putting sickly sweetness lurking in the background. There is no finish to speak of. If you are looking for a reasonably-priced dark Aussie beer, I would strongly recommend you avoid this in favour of the infinitely more pleasant and easier-to-find Tooheys Old.

Always loved this big bottle of stout with a very basic label. Always $3 or less when I find it, it never disappoints . A great all around Australian stout. Nice and bitter with roasted malts and a lot of chocolate flavor. I wish it was easier to find.

Love that big bottle but the label imparts damned little information, mostly the usual health warning. It poured a frothy tan head, which produced a small amount of nice short-term lacing. The colour is just bloody dark, impervious to light. Aroma is roasted/toasted/burnt malts, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is all that the aroma promises, and that is simply delicious. Mouthfeel is typically "stouty", with a clean after. Far and away the best Oz beer I’ve ever had.

Bottle sample at Muckfest 2009 Day 1. Black pour with a medium tan head. Malty and roasty aroma with some coffee presence. Malty chocolate flavor with a dry coffee finish. Pretty simple, but tasty and I can’t help but be surprised by the low overall score.

Bottle shared at Muckfest 2009 in Lancaster Ohio. Dark brown pour. Aroma of roasted coffee. Flavor was all dark chocolate and bitter coffee to me. I prefer a sweeter stout so this one was not a fav.

Had this one during my holiday in Australia april/may 2009. Black colored brew. Malty aroma. Malty bitterness, silky, chocolate and coffee.

Black with a light brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of molasses and coffee. Flavor is heavy on the licorice with some coffee in the finish. Slight vinous quality. Pretty thin mouthfeel. Simple, straight forward stout, just didn’t do it for me.
