Typical stout appearance - dark brown to black with a smallish beige head. Mouthfeel is oddly thin and fizzy for a stout. Flavor had some roastiness and a little chocolate, but something odd that I couldn't quite place - maybe a little soap? jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2003 The bottle reminded me of some stout-style 40oz for Australians. Plain brown bottle with common yellow label. Much like a sweet stout -- chocolate milk, with a dark chocolate head. Better stouts are out there, but enjoyable still. vector (163), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2003 Poured a deep black color with a small tan head. Carbonation was really mild and the head faded quickly. Flavor started off kinda sour, but quickly turned bittersweet of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. This was a pretty standard kind of stout, nothing too spectacular. There are lots of more flavorful stouts out there. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia

After all it too is fermented. This is the first stout I had in the days when stout drinkers were nowhere to be seen. As a result I have fond memories of it and enjoy the odd bottle. Great flavour but with a mellowness that sets it apart fom many others. jerkadilly74 (155), mooresville, Indiana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2003 Poured a quick dissolving tan head with fine-medium bubbles. Not much in the way of lacing. Not an overpowering coffee taste for a stout. It has a smooth taste to it and it seemed to be a little bit on the thin and watery side. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 28, 2003 This brew poured a medium head of finely sized creamy dark brown bubbles and a pitch black opaque body. It has a nice strong malt aroma and a strong stout flavor. It starts off with a slight stout bite, but finishes smoothly. The coffee and chocolate notes are there but different than in most stouts. Somewhat more subdued but still present. This brew goes down too easy when compared to other stouts. Not as strong but still well balanced. I wonder how Hotstuff will rate it? clattyarse (12), Penrith, Australia

Maybe it was someone's idea of a joke at the CUB brewery Christmas party to fill up a longy with Kikkoman Soy Sauce because to me, that's what this stuff tastes like. BEWARE OF THIS CRAP!
