It has a nice strong malt aroma and a strong stout flavor. It starts off with a slight stout bite, but finishes smoothly. The coffee and chocolate notes are there but different than in most stouts. Somewhat more subdued but still present. This brew goes down too easy when compared to other stouts. Not as strong but still well balanced. I wonder how Hotstuff will rate it? clattyarse (12), Penrith, Australia

Maybe it was someone's idea of a joke at the CUB brewery Christmas party to fill up a longy with Kikkoman Soy Sauce because to me, that's what this stuff tastes like. All around good stout, not very complex, but has everything a decent stout needs. Dark in color with a translucent pour. Cola like head that dissapates to a ring of medium sized bubbles. Toasty aroma, little burnt, touch of melon/bell-pepper. Semi sweet with a roast aftertaste. Bumping this one up on the overall score for old-times sake. Betty (234), Walgett, NSW, Australia

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2003 Probably CUB's best beer, Pours a ecent thick head when it wants to. Nice Roasted malty flavour. Almost too sweet for my likings, but just saves itself. It's a semi-decent session beer. Cartoonkhaki (1150), Brantford, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2003 Very good, well done....but not overly original. The head was thin beige, somewhat disappointing, but after that, all of the stout characteristics were represented, nutty aroma; coffee, burnt woodiness, sweet chocolate, and spices all came together in this medium bodied beer for a very crisp, yet somehow boring taste.
