| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 24, 2003 Very dark and roasted aroma, with a slightly bitter burnt peppery spciness in the flavor. I did not care for the aftertaste or the slightly syrupy finish. Not one of my favorites. Verne (261), Enumclaw, Washington, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 18, 2003 For a thirsty man this isn"t all that bad. Watered down flavor no body but the roasted flavor saves it from the curse of being boring. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 18, 2003 Dark brown with a burnt cardboard aroma. . . Musty, dirty, wet cardboard on the tongue. Bad sour and bitter flavours linger on the palate. . . What would you say: not my cup of tea. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 12, 2003 Dark red/garnet color with a decent head. Aroma is seriously lacking. Mostly soggy cardboard and burnt coffee. A long, dry, and mostly unpleasant, finish. Not for me. Bokeroo (16), Sydney, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 4, 2003 An uncomplicated and honest stout. Tastes a bit too much like treacle for my liking. Would be good for a coalminer after a hard day’s work underground. dubs (117), St Peters, NSW, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2003 Ive grown quite fond of this after thinking it was a very very distant last to the other three popular Aussie stouts, Coopers, Cascade and Southwark. Best thing: its the cheapest stout in the land, and is still better than Guiness. Its sort of an old man beer, but that suits me if Im all set up for a night-in playing chess. They have this at all pub bottle-os too because of the CUB connection so its what I gets when I want to just pop up the road and Im in the mood for the dark shit. Its funny, when I was in Boston trying to find Coopers Stout, all I could locate was this shit. It made me feel right at home though, and it really hit the spot. Ange, remember chillin up in Tang with longnecks of this one? Oh no, now Im gonna start crying... I need a Sheaf. UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2002 A pretty straightforward stout, with an unusual nuttiness to the flavor. Well balanced, good maltiness, a very good beer, if you can find it. I don’t think this is for everyone, but a nice one for the stout drinkers. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2002 A fairly good stout, would not buy again based on the fact I can get a better stout for the price. The palate was very thin for the style. Initial smell was that of an import stout and tasted of roasted coffee with a weird aftertaste. I agree with some of the previous comments. A slight metallic licorice taste. Could use a darker bottle as well.
