Pours a deep black with creamy light cocoa head. Strange aroma almost sour. Flavor is some of that same off sourness. Not a lot but it is there. Beyond that not getting much roastiness at all. Kind of bland. I haven’t had much luck with austrailian beers and this doesn’t help the cause.

2 year old bottle thanks to Vferg. Pours a black body with an off white head. Chocolate, molasses, boozy chocolate and oak. Ash, coco powder, espresso, light licorice and a milky light ash finish. Decent enough.

Pour is very nice pitch black with a nice creamy brown head and decent lacing. Aroma is that of dark chocolate, coffee, dark roasted malts. Flavor is bitter with a hint of sweetness. The palate is a huge disappointment because its way too fizzy. Overall would be great but the palate is so offputting that its just ok.

500 ml bottle bought at the Boise Co-op. Best before July 2010- drank October 2009. Pours a completely black color with a thick brown head. The aroma is milky, chocolates, roasted malts. A smooth, sweet flavor; roasted malts, milk chocolate, light roasted bitterness. Very nice and quaffable. A very good beer, quite drinkable and full of quality.

Boring stout, a little earthy, a little malty, and a little bit chocolatey. Pretty much the definition of a mediocre dark beer. Possibly a little too bitter as far as the style goes. At least it’s pretty cheap.

My first Australian beer! Despite a terribly hideous bottle, not too bad. Looks super dark and tastes like carbonated dark chocolate and blackened toast. Some syrupy sweetness, but I think that comes from having to drink so much of it.

This is as close to Carlton Cold that I’ve seen yet.... so after choppin wood, I decided to throw one back. The beer was almost black with one of the most unique heads I’ve ever seen, it does the whole espresso swirl thing but it’s all thick and fluffy on the edges of the glass. The aroma is some roasty coffee and burnt toast. The flavor follows with the burnt toast thing, but it’s so under control that it is very pleasant. Complimentary flavors include plums, molasses and some chocolate. The palate is way too watery.
