Bought a growler. Dark reddish-brown pour with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and some hints of coffee. Creamy, roasted malt flavor with hints of coffee and some bitterness at the end. Great lacing on the glass. Dry finish. I’d like to get some more. Definately worth a stop if you are in Rockford, IL.

Arrives from tap a dark brown (almost black) with a very dense, creamy head that sticks around for quite a bit. Aroma has a definite toasted malt character with a light dark coffee-ish dark roasted note and a slight sour mash/grain note at the end. Flavor is a strong bitter roasted note at the start with a very grainy and light coffee middle finishing with a very sweet caramel and bitter hops leafy notes. Sweetness reminds me a bit of simple syrup. Moderate density, low carbonation and great lacing for this brew. Overall a complex flavor that has a great bitterness that sticks around.
