Terminus (1955), Illinois, USA Jan 6, 2005 tap at brewpub-dec 28,2004-pours a deep amber hue with a small tan head. sweet toffee and rasin aroma. the rasin qualities really come through in the flavors. light body. doens’t really taste like a dunkel at all. cloying sweetness. this needed some more time in primary fermentation and/or a different malt bill. JMerritt (1106), Macomb, Illinois, USA Nov 27, 2004 Dark brown with flecks of ruby red. Malty sweet aroma with hints of red grapes, raisins, plums, and brown sugar. Wow, is this stuff sweet! Cloyingly so. A certain fleshy, pruniness and thick, rich malts make this nearly eye-wateringly sweet. This definitely needed a few more weeks (or months!) of age before tapping. It needs to mellow and smooth out big time. It has great potential: maybe if I can make it back to Rockford around Christmastime, it will be a lot more palatable.
