Silphium (2006), Lansing, Michigan, USA May 24, 2007 On tap at the brewery as Humulus Lupulus. Hazy orange body, medium off-white head. Aroma reminded me of Bells Two-Hearted Ale, with plenty of leafy, strong pine and grapefruit hops notes. Soapy, citrusy, piney hops body backed by biscuity, bready malts. Fresh, potent, and crisp with good balance. A winner. Drnk_McDermott (1537), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA May 10, 2007 Sampler. After sliding through the "regular" beer samples, we come to the start of the "extreme" beers that couldn’t fit on the sampler paddle! Just a little too light to be taking on the Dreadnaught, but it’s surely sniffing its butt behind. Heavy fresh hop layer from dry hopping. Brutally bitter to keep those aroma hops out of the way.
