Carlyle’s IPA hit all cynliders with me, big (grape)fruity aroma, copper color, large creamy head and upfront bitterness. Yes, there is a maltiness to back it up, but thanks to the freshness of the IPA it was all hops. Brigadier (1257), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

The tiny 5 oz sample arrived as a a hazelnut colored body with a patheticly limp head. The scents were more inviting though - tropical mangos, bananas, flowery hops (rose/dogwood) and grains. The same factors were present in the body along with a distinct but not unpleasant bitterness. I thought it was very balanced although it could have been a tad more interesting. hezron (604), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA

I’m rating it this way because this is how the brewery chooses to serve it, not my fault! Not much aroma, I can tell it is hoppy, but that is about all. Cloudy straw yellow with a thin head. Lots of hop flavor, pine resinous with a nice warming bitterness. Satisfyingly hoppy, especially for a brew put IPA. Medium body, fairly watery texture but overall a solid IPA McKnizzle69 (89), Machesney Park, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2006 tap at brewpub-pours cloudy oragne unfiltered with lots of hop and/or yeast particulates. aroma is big grapefruit-can definately be used as an aid to clear the sinuses for shure! so much grapefruit that it starts to smell like cleaning solution. lots of pine/grapefruit on the flavors with very little notes of any malt. hops go from pine to citric on the finish with lingering orange and lemon notes. not very complex but aids as a good hop machine. I drank this with Tanner Tavernboys and we collectively rated this one. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 20, 2006 Hazy orange-amber body. Grapefruit-citrus aroam with crystal in the background. The flavor features sharp grassy C-hops over a basic cracker malt. A nicely unbalanced pale ale. 1FastSTi (2590), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Listed as Humulus Lupulus. The beer pours to a very hazy reddish gold body with a dense tan head and nice lacing. The flavor is a nicely hoppy citrus and PNW hops. The aroma is nicely hoppy. The flavor is balanced by a nice caramel malt. Nice balanced flavor. The palate is medium-light bodied and has a light resin hop. I could drink lots of this. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2006 Hazy copper with no head. Nose is medium strength with lots of citrus tart hops. The taste is thin but very up-front and one sided hops, citrus tart and sour. Almost like a kick to the back of the throat. It has a very cool sucking sensation. Pretty darn good overall. Grainy and some bits of earth and moss finish this beast off.
