Aroma boasts good piny citrusy hop notes and sweet caramel malt. Body starts lightly sweet with plenty of grapefruity bittering and flavor hops toward a bittersweet citrusy finish. And what a nice way for this avowed hophead to celebrate that milestone, with a dandy of an IPA. They call it Humulus Lupulus now. It’s a hazy amber, frothy headed hop bomb. Nice. The aroma is bereft of malt, filled with grapefruit, pine, flowers, lemon zest, and a slight earthiness. There is a sweet caramel backbone in the flavor, but once more the hops dominate, curling the tongue with a serious bitterness that lasts long, long into the dry finish. Very nice.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Sample, then full glass, at the brewpub. Hazy near-opaque amber with lots of fanciful lacing and a bit of creamy head that lasts and lasts....gorgeous fresh, ripe apricots, bitter orange and sharp floral character in the nose, touch of farmy pungency...in the body, bittersweet fruit, musty dank PNW hops, sweet orange coming out late and contrasting beautifully with the strongly woody finish...bit of a challenge, and the body could be a tad fuller (though the bittersweet texture makes up for that somewhat) but this is truly excellent. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Listed as Humulus Lupulus. The beer pours to a very hazy reddish gold body with a dense tan head and nice lacing. The flavor is a nicely hoppy citrus and PNW hops. The aroma is nicely hoppy. The flavor is balanced by a nice caramel malt. Nice balanced flavor. The palate is medium-light bodied and has a light resin hop. I could drink lots of this. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA

Aroma reminded me of Bells Two-Hearted Ale, with plenty of leafy, strong pine and grapefruit hops notes. Soapy, citrusy, piney hops body backed by biscuity, bready malts. Fresh, potent, and crisp with good balance. A winner. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2006 tap at brewpub-pours cloudy oragne unfiltered with lots of hop and/or yeast particulates. aroma is big grapefruit-can definately be used as an aid to clear the sinuses for shure! so much grapefruit that it starts to smell like cleaning solution. lots of pine/grapefruit on the flavors with very little notes of any malt. hops go from pine to citric on the finish with lingering orange and lemon notes. not very complex but aids as a good hop machine for a hop head like me.
