FatPhil (2063), Espoo, Finland Aug 17, 2008 330ml bottle (Systembolaget) - gift from MiP - thanks!
Dark reddy brown, brief fizzy beige head. Orange sherbet sweets in the aroma. Slightly fizzy and watery palate, but plenty of instant malty burntness, accentuated on swallowing, and a touch of milkiness. After that, there’s a lovely tingly hoppy feeling in the mouth - loads of something like hallertau. Decent chocolatiness too in the finish, but the hops easily last longest. Very refreshing, and very tasty for a 3.5% brew. espenra (99), Oslo, Norway Aug 2, 2008 33cl bottle from Konsum. It poured a dark brown colour with a big foamy head that settles down fast in the glass. It has a roasted aroma smells of brown sugar, coffee and malts. The flavour is suprisingly mild, but this could be because of the abv. It tastes of coffee, dark chocolates and malts. It has a medium long aftertaste. petermadsen (321), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Jul 5, 2008 This is not bad at all. A light bodied porter with liqourice, brown sugar, chocolate and some hops. Balanced and really tasty for a low abv beer. JustinBathurst (135), Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Jun 26, 2008 Pours a dark cola brown with a tinge of ruby and a 1.5 cm tan head. A thin layer of the head remained and a touch of lacing.
Smells of celery, a smidgen of malt, some hops with a metallic edge like a copper pipe.
The mouthfeel is smooth, a bit chalky, with pretty low carbonation.
Tastes of my homebrewed wheat beer (sadly, it was terrible), with a mildly bitter finish, a bit of brown sugar in the faint distance, with a touch of dark chocolate and roasted malt. There’s a dab of honey in there as well.
Not nearly as bad as I was fearing, but basically inoffensive and lacking any real identity. Too thin, methinks. Theis (2019), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 14, 2008 Bottle at Mortens - thanks. Almost black - white head. Ryebread, øllebrød, sweetness, roasted, licorice, almost no hops. Boring.
