HonkeyBra (1270), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2009 Sampled at GABF. Pours Yellow. Aroma is spicey, bubblegum. Pretty nice. Flavor is light, hoppy and spicey. Not spectacular. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 23, 2008 Updated: Aug 25, 2008Thanks to Sean for this! Description said anniversary lager, not wit. I entered a separate entry, however it was deleted. Dark pour fluffy tan head. Malty flavor with hints of hops and fresh bread. Suttree (2702), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 23, 2007 Cloudy Yella, Finely bubbled white head. Is that right? "Finely Bubbled"? I dunno, it just sounds funny. At any rate, yeasty, spicy bready aroma, with perhaps a little bit of banana. Flavor is also yeasty and fruity, with some spicyness, as well. Nice and quaffable. OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Feb 19, 2007 Pint , several actually, at brewpub. Passed on the fruit slice option, yeasty citrusy scent with little coriander & straw. Cloudy golden orange color, good fluffy white head that faded quickly to a hazy top, good lacing. Bitter tart flavor like aroma, but with some grassy & cardboard flavors too. I get a slightly metallic taste as I swallow. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish, Tasty easy to drink wit. I was surprised that Jon choose this as his anniversary brew as a lot of brewers nowadays would of gone for an imperial this or barrel aged that. Good job mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Feb 8, 2007 TAP. Fizzy small white head that dissapated soon after arrrival. Citrus yellow-orange hazy color. I had had trouble finding aroma ( I was at the brewpub and this could have effected). Flavor was also very light, some bubblegum with some sugar sweet. HInt of peat flavor. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2006 From notes 2/21/04:
Pours a golden orange color with a clean white head. Little lacing left behind. Plenty of busy bubbles rise to the surface. Aromas were fruity with orange peel and other citrus splashes. Very pleasing and sweet aromas. The flavor was light, crisp, and clean. A melange of orange peel, lemon zest, yeasty influence, spicy pepper, and doughy malt. A sugary sweetness unfolds mid-pint. Resembles a sugar-coated chewy orange slice candy in a way. Tripel in some regard with an orange twinge, and a definite wit character with its spiciness. A slightly wheaty feel on the tongue, even though the beer is relatively clear. Moderate body. Very easy to drink. Refreshing.
theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA Feb 15, 2006 On tap. Bubbly, hazy orange-yellow. Yeast, grain, and grass flavors come through well, but sweetness and citrus sourness are artificial, slightly candy-like. Spices are nearly nonexistent. Decent dry finish, but simple overall. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 10, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. This year is the 11th Anniversary of the brewery, but the beer I drank seems to match the commercial description from the 10th anniversay so I assume it’s the same recipe. Hazy yellow-orange color with bubbly white head. Served with an orange slice. Smells of sweet bread, citrus, and yeast. Nice yeasty and cereal grain flavors accented by orange and coriander undertones.
