Commercial Description:
This brilliant red ale, brewed with caramel and pale malts, is a best seller at the Carolina Brewery. Using traditional brewing methods, the ale yeast provides a touch of fruit and works in tandem with the malt to make for a very drinkable ale. Kent Golding hops lend just enough bitterness and aroma to round out the flavor.

Draught. Pours copper, with a small white head. Aroma is slight caramel. Flavor is slightly sweet, with some caramel, and grassy in aftertaste. Kind of a lighter beer.

At the brewery. Pours a copper amber with a thin offwhite head. The aroma is slightly sweet, a light bitterness, grassy, slight grain. Not very upfront. Average subdued flavor, sweet malt, grassy, lightly bitter. Decent mouthfeel. Not a standout.

Appearance: Clear, lightly effervescent, copper body with a small, fizzy white head. Smell: Meek aroma of sweaty grains with a very vague fruitiness. Taste: Sweetish pale malt flavor with a fair amount of graininess. More of that vague fruitiness. Light hop spiciness. Finishes relatively crisp and clean. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Moderate, soda water-like carbonation. Drinkability: Not that it was too great to begin with, but for heaven’s sake, ease up on the carbonation.

Pint @ Pittsboro location. Good aroma, bitter. Orange/grapefruit, caramel, paper. Clean, copper color. Good head that faded quickly, minoe lacing. Bittersweet flavor, initial sweetness gives way to a bitter taste. Like aroma, but stronger. More grapefruit than orange, caramel. toasted grain, fruity streak about it, call it apple. Lite body, oily creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Nice amber, could drink all day, like the feel of it as I rolled on tongue.

on tap-pours an off white head and amber color. Aroma is faint medium malt-caramel. Taste is medium malt-caramel, secondary /faint perfumy hops. OK carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours brass color with off-white head. The aroma is biscuit, candy, and grapefruit. The flavor is serious cotton candy and a slightly unpleasant chemical note. The finish is an earthy apple deal. Not too fond of this one.

Not a fan of ambers. this was pretty representative of what an amber should be like. however there was a strange earthiness/peatiness in the aroma.
