Cocoa, chocolate, nutty. Little hops bite about it. Clean orangy brown color, ok head with good lacing. Bittersweet flavor like aroma cocoa/chocolate with a steely, citrusy addition. Medium body, body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Nice easy to drink brown. Flavor went well with Brunswick stew I had. I could enjoy this anytime. Upon further review by both the beer description and TF comments I see this is a rebadge and have asked for it to be moved to the Downtown Trolley Brown GeneralGao (3071), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Poured a slightly hazy brown color with orange highlights. Head was two fingers high and light tan. There was decent lace at the end. Aroma was of grassy hops with whiffs of molasses and chocolate. Slightly sweet on the tongue with mild hop bitterness. Tasted of subdued malty molasses and grassy/flowery hops. Not a bad brown. Went well with my plate of brisket and pulled pork. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Deep amber-brown hue. Nose is faint nuts and roast. Flavor is also on the lighter side of nutty roasty malts, finishes crisp. Thin and watery texture. A clean middle of the road brown ale well in the easy-drinking session range. Served as ’Bynum Brown,’ though I was assured it is the same beer. Pours a thin light brown with no head. Nose is nutty, with slight hints of cocoa. Flavor is slightly roasty with a slightly hoppy and bitter finish. A pretty good brown, though I must admit I’m never too excited from anything in this style. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 1, 2006 For a "brown," it sure is amber. Nice off-white head that weaves a spidery web of lacing. The aroma is a sweet, lightly roasted malt with a dollop of milk chocolate. A bit thin, it nonetheless delivers a pleasing flavor of fruity sweet malts with a surge of choclate that appears in the middle. There’s a nutty bitterness to the finish that turns more hoppy as the drink warms.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2006 From notes 1/25/05:
Pours a thin brown color with a puny tan head. For such a tiny head, this did however manage to supply adequate lacing in the glass; not sheets of foam mind you, but ample rings with each sip. Aromas are mild and weak with nut and freshly baked bread, wheat or pumpernickel. Flavors follow along, and give more of the nut impression on the palate. Bready, nutty, and a squeeze of hop oil at the very end. Thin on the palate, this one borderlines watery. Drinakble and mindless, this beer goes down easily but doesn’t challenge the drinker.
