Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 11, 2009 Serving: Draft.
Appearance: Amber color with a pillowy white head. Good head retention and decent lacing.
Aroma: Nice pine hop nose with notes of citrus, grass, and herbs as well.
Flavor: Hop forward as it should be. Lots of pine, resin, citrus, and a touch of earthiness. Some citric sweetness on the malt side.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a long, bitter finish.
Overall: Not a bad IPA! This one won’t blow you away, but it is certainly a respectable, sessionable beer. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 14, 2009 Draft sample at the brewpub. Citrus and bitter notes in the flavor, but a bit watery. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA May 25, 2009 On tap @ brewery. Pours a golden color with a thin broken white head. Light earthy hops on the aroma, some wet grains also. Taste follows suit, but the weak malt backbone is more apparent. Pretty weak. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Apr 29, 2009 On draft at the brewery. Orange pour with some head. Some floral hop on the aroma. More bitter than flavoring hops I’d say. Very average. Almost like a homebrew. But this was definitely the best thing they had on draft. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Apr 16, 2009 On tap at the Cat’s Cradle... great accompaniment to a Superchunk show. Old school. Pours amber orange with thin foamy white head. Hoppier than I remember. Nice citrus, but a bit skunky as well, and backed with a bit of malt. Slick mouthfeel. Solid.
