Commercial Description:
Originally, this intensely hopped ale was brewed in the 18th century to survive the long sea journey from the cooler breweries in England, around the Cape of Africa to India where the temperatures were too warm to brew. This beer has a unique floral aroma from the generous addition of Cascade hops to the fermenter in a procedure known as dry hopping.

On tap at the Cat’s Cradle... great accompaniment to a Superchunk show. Old school. Pours amber orange with thin foamy white head. Hoppier than I remember. Nice citrus, but a bit skunky as well, and backed with a bit of malt. Slick mouthfeel. Solid.

On tap, this beer poured a nice copper color with a 1 finger head. The smell was not overpowering but there were faint aromas of citrus, hops and malt. The hop profile is not overly drying and I found myself ordering it again and again. This was a very easy to drink IPA. Get it on tap if you can find it.

On tap. Pours a clear nut brown with a small tan cap. Weak aromas of grapefruit, roasted nuts, biscuity malt. Taste is full of hazelnut and Brazil nut with powerful bittering hops. Pretty full body overall with a nice buttery finish. Wish there was more balancing hops rather than just dry hopping with Cascade.

Copper pour with foamy white head and lace. Medium hops on the nose. Medium malt apples with a medium to full bitter finish. A tad foamy for me but still a pretty decent ipa. I thought I got ekg hops on the nose and was surprised to see the cascade note.

A somewhat unusual IPA, this brew sports a highly bitter hop profile, but with relatively little aroma or flavoring hops. Hop profile has a bit of grapefruit and is highly resiny. The finish is long and heavily bitter, but there is ample malt character to temper the otherwise harsh finish. A pretty beer, this one sports a thick off-white head atop its coppery brown body.

Growler. Copper in color with a nice carbonated white head. Smell of hops and citrus. Nice taste. Hops not too overpowering. A nice and drinkable IPA.

Clear copper pour. Bisquity aroma. Floral hop flavor and a long dry finish

Growler from Santa. Thanks!
Pours a decent amber with slight carbonation. Body is a tad thin but still exudes a beautiful luster of dark reds and heavy browns. A hint of sour strawberry is noticeable in the nose, with a touch of floral syrup atop a nice buttermilk biscut. Flavor is a rush of soured floral notes, complete with a nice, rounded grapefruit finish. The beer leaves a nice, slippery film on the tongue that allows the flavors to further penetrate the taste buds. Nice beer. I’d love to have this fresh at the brewpub. And since I now have a growler, I have an excuse to at least go to the brewery for a refill. Excellent beer; very approachable and thoroughly enjoyable!
