Commercial Description:
Originally, this intensely hopped ale was brewed in the 18th century to survive the long sea journey from the cooler breweries in England, around the Cape of Africa to India where the temperatures were too warm to brew. This beer has a unique floral aroma from the generous addition of Cascade hops to the fermenter in a procedure known as dry hopping.

C-Bus 7 Growler from turdferguson: Pours a clear copper color with a white head. Aroma, pale malts, citrus hops, and some grassy notes as well. Flavor, caramel and pale malts up front with a grassy slight citrus finish. Easy drinking and enjoyable.

Clear orangey copper, nice sized beige head. Toasty, grainy aroma. Clean, crisp hops dominate the flavor - clean mellow hops until the end, vaguely citrusy, peppery finish. Pretty tasty stuff. Sampled at 2007 Hickory Hops.

Growler courtesy of kp sampled on 1/4/07: Pours a clear copper amber with a thin ring of white head. Aroma of earthy grainy malts and a touch of grapefruity hops. Body starts with a mildly sweet grainy crystal maltiness with some earthy bittering hoppy balance. A decent IPA.

Draught during my NC brew tour. The photo here shows the IPA from Carolina Brewing Company. Are they one and the same? The Flagship IPA pours a light copper with a small white head. The aroma is spicy with grapefruit and caramel notes. A more English side comes out with suggestions of wood and paper. The hop strength and zest in the flavor is almost American, but leans more towards an English boundary of tastefulness. Some slightly leathery notes and a general taste of the outdoors are in the flavor. Very well balanced, good drink for any time.

A very creamy head formed and held above a bronzed copper body which itself held a light haze. Citrusy hopping suggests bitterness but a light floral quality and some caramel sweetness add a friendly twist to the aroma. Balanced flavor with an English feel. Lemon tea, not overly bitter... yes, this is a nice English-style IPA.

Orange color with white head. Lightly malty aroma with bitter hops. Flavor has hops throughout grassy earthy bitter hops.
