Commercial Description:
The origins of Bock beer can be traced back over 600 years to the town of Einbeck, Germany. The great taste and aroma of fresh malt are the main flavor components of this style, but the hops, though still in the background, also play an important role by not allowing the malt to completely dominate the palate. These deep golden colored lager beers were made to replace the darker winter brews and the name Maibock refers to the month of May when these springtime beers made their debut.

Copper pour with aroma of hops, fruit, caramel malt, and spice. Great maibock taste, with a great, smooth finish and notable complexity.

On tap at Bean and Barrel. Pours a coppery amber with a fair consistency. The head is thin, white, and frothy. The aroma is sweet and has some sweet fruit notes. The flavor is really sweet, some fruit that I can’t place my finger on, some slight hop, and maybe corny flavors. The palate is clean and cool. Very refreshing and palatable.

On tap at Bean and Barrel. The color was a golden/orange. The head was thin, off-white and fizzy. The aroma was yeasty but lacking. The flavor was yeast, citris, and some hops. The palate was thin-bodied but smooth. The finish was abrupt. This beer is good for a refreshing beer during those hot summer days.

draught @ Tyler’s tap house, Durham. Ok nose, sweet. Nutty, grainy, brown sugar. Clean brownish orange, ok head & lacing. Ok flavor, like aroma. Sweet & nutty. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bitter sweet dryish finish. Ok, easy to drink. Solid made beer

From notes 5/17/05: Pours a soft golden orange with a thin yet fluffy off-white head. Little lacing. Aromas are mild with a subtle toffee malt scent and an underlying herbal hop presence. Flavors follow suit with caramel and toffee notes, with flowery and herbal hop tones close behind. Aftertaste has some more noticeable heftier malt character. Modest mouthfeel. Drinkable and easygoing. Obivously softer and milder than their heavier To Hell ’N Bock.

Copper pour that wasn’t as dark as I’d thought it would be. Nice smooth lager flavor, with a hearty palate. Flavor is a bit monotonous, but good, nonetheless. A pitcher of it goes great with a plate of nachos down at CB.

on tap-pours an off white head that laces and hazy yellow/gold color. Aroma is mild medium malt-some sweet, secondary perfumy hops. Taste is medium malt/wheat-some sweet, faint hops. OK/mild carbonation.
