Deep deep brown color, virtually opaque. A creamy tan head formed and hung around for a while. Lacing was exquisite with a stickiness that wouldn’t quit. Aromas were chocolatey and robust. A roasted coffee bean dipped in chocolate. The flavors leapt out from the glass. Roasted coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, and molasses. Thick. Rich. Velvety smooth. The oats add an entirely new dimension to the porter. So smooth. Smooth, yet enough of a hops bite at the end so balance everything out and give it an exclamation point ot the evening.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2007 Pours an incredibly dark brown color. Almost black but the true brown color gives itself away arond the edges. Slight, tan head that receded to two thin scuzzy lines. Nose is toasted malts and oatmeal sandwich bread.
Flavor is a combination of wholesome, sweet and filling oatmeal balanced with a slight hoppy tang. Some slight bursts of sulphur on the tongue as well. Lots of toasted malts. Perilously close to a Baltic porter but the oatmeal keeps it firmly grounded in the oatmeal stout style. Medium body that is perhaps a touch thinner than optimal. Still a very nice and easy drinking example of the style. Nice take with the oatmeal provides a smoother mouthfeel than some others that are not quite as balanced.

Very porter aroma of slightly sourish toasted malt. Very nice mlatiness and hints of coffee with very appropriate bitter. Just a bit thin but I wonder if it is because of the growler. Nice porter a tad thin but very nice. riversideAK (2792), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Dark brown pour with light brown head. Roasty chocolate-y aroma with a good bit of toasted oatmeal as well. A bit of nuts and coffee and tangy lactic flavors added as well on the tongue. Tasty beer, and better than PBR when watching a show.
