Commercial Description:
For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a German style Kolsch ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching summer brew is spritzy, not too malty, with all the pleasing aroma of German Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

An okay attempt at a Kölsch, the German lawnmower beer. It’s got a very pale gold body with a small head that manages to do some fine lacing. The aroma is a light, sweet malt with a mild grassy bitterness. Spritzy in the mouth, it tastes of sweet grainy malts, finishing on an herbal bitter note.

Gold color, with aroma of hopcit and some honey. Tastes kolschy, with hopcit and some malty sweetness. Smooth, albeit light in palate and non complex.

Had this on tap at the brew pub in Chapel Hill. True to it’s name it is clear and golden. Not much nose. Head dissipates quickly. Refreshing, but bites you back. The palate, in particular, is a bit astringent. Crisp finish.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is grassy hops with slight grainy notes. Taste is grassy hops with a toasted malt finish and faint nutty notes. Thin-medium bodied. Strongly carbonated.

Golden pour with light white head and lace. Aroma of light malt. Flavor of light malt and slight wet paper taste. A bit foamy and thin. Clean fresh drinker. Just lacks much flavor and is thin..

Draught at the brewpub. Pours very pale yellow with tight white head. The aroma is bread, slight honey, and slight butterscotch. The flavor is buttered toast with hay in the finish. Meh.
