Commercial Description:
For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a German style Kolsch ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching summer brew is spritzy, not too malty, with all the pleasing aroma of German Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

Delicious, refreshing, a little filling though. surprised at the low rankings. on tap at village draft house in Raleigh, NC. honey, butterscotch, sweet grainy malts. definetely worth it if you like seasonals, golden ales, or want something summery as you sit outside.

Serving: Draft. Appearance: Pale gold with a foamy white head. The head leaves relatively quickly. Aroma: Light nose with notes of grain, malt, and an off note I can’t quite place. Flavor: Sweet and grainy with a slight hop bitterness. Very one dimensional and note a very good interpretation of a Kolsch. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a short finish. Overall: Tastes like a hopped up version of a BMC clone. Skip this one.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is grassy hops with slight grainy notes. Taste is grassy hops with a toasted malt finish and faint nutty notes. Thin-medium bodied. Strongly carbonated.

Golden pour with really no head. Carbonated and watery, some flavor of straw and flowers, but really nothing stood out.

Clear yellow pour with some white head. Fruity and buttery. Sickly sweet corn with a syrupy sweet finish. Pass

Golden pour with light white head and lace. Aroma of light malt. Flavor of light malt and slight wet paper taste. A bit foamy and thin. Clean fresh drinker. Just lacks much flavor and is thin..

Growler; this hit the spot with the Mexican food I made last night. Really nothing special. Mild grainy aroma, very light grassy hops and not much spice. Luckily not overly sweet or metallic. Solid with food, but certainly nothing to write home about.

Pours a clear straw yellow with a light cereal aroma. Head is small but leaves good lacing.Hop presence is light and grassy with floral notes. Has a nice round palate and a pleasing cleansing finish. In the Kolsch style this would make a great lawnmower beer. Well crafted.

On tap at the Cats Cradle, Carrboro. Ah, the beers you drink in clubs. I was hoping for a mild, refreshing, lightly spiced golden. Instead, what I got was a moderately hopped, at times almost acrid smelling mess.
