Commercial Description:
Our seasonal wheat beer is an ale with flavor like no other. Its unique banana and clove yeast characteristics make it the juicy fruit of beer. Technically speaking, this beer is known as a hefeweizen – hefe is the German word for yeast and weizen means wheat. Visually the beer is somewhat hazy – this is the hefe, taste-wise it is light yet malty – this is the weizen. This mouth-watering brew is often served with a slice of lemon for a zesty summer cooler.

(growler, thanks TurdFerguson) Small white head atop cloudy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, banana, skunk, some lemon. Taste is medium sweet, banana, clove, some grass. Light body, some acidity, fairly clean.

Nose of sweet lemon and wheat, some creamy hefeweizen yeast, and a twang of oranges. Flavor isn’t much different: creamy, sweetened wheat and oranges, medium to light body, somewhat oily and syrupy while still being a bit thin, with a chewy/chunk wheat character throughout. Not bad.

Actually a fairly refreshing & tasty American wheat ale. The body is a somewhat hazed, vary pale straw color with a creamy white head that performs some thick lacing. The aroma is a honey sweetened wheat with a subtle amount of fruitiness, bananas & pears. Very smooth to the palate, the honeyed wheat takes over most of the flavor, the fruit taking a background role. It’s got a mild, wheat flakes finish with a meager citric tartness. Okay.

Growler thanks to Turd. Pours a cloudy light yellow and a thin head. Aroma is yeasty, clove-like, soapy, and citrusy-lemon with light wheat tanginess. Ok wheaty doughy flavors, light citrus, phenolic yeast and a bit dull and faded finihs- turns a bit watery and slick.

Draught at the brewpub. Served with a lemon. Straw colored, hazy. Estery aroma and flavor. Yeast and banana flavors. Very refreshing.

Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of TURDFERGUSON. Thanks, Sam! Pours a hazy golden color; fluffy white head with good retention and mixed-bubbled lacing. Wheatiness, light citrus, and doughy yeast in the aroma; dry, crisp, husky. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy yeastiness, citrus, minerals, and breadiness upfront; average carbonation; light acidity coming through; very drinkable stuff. Medium finish: breadiness, wheat, and citrus; ends quite dry and crisp.

Draft at the brewpub: this, I thought, was a kick ass wheat. Poured cloudy butterscotch yellow with a full thick white head. Banana and clove aroma with a bit of coriander. Full bodied and yeasty. Very nice. Well done Carolina!

Draught at the brewpub. Pours cloudy yeloow with white head. The aroma is banana and clove with hearty yeast notes. The flavor is banana and clove of course, with slight toasty and a wisp of zest in the finish. A kick of raw wheat flavor comes out in the aftertaste. Pretty good.
