Very underrated brewery and beer. Seriously fresh for folks in the Triangle and a great value at $10/6 pack. A little piney, dry, and aromatic. I need to make a run to Holly Springs more often.

Draft pint at Harrisons in Cary. Slightly hazy copper with a small lasting head of cream. Aroma of resin, caramel and citrus. Flavor is resin, molasses, citrus and wood. Near-medium body is smooth, slightly watery and very drinkable.

Big sample from a growler at the ORF pre-release tasting. Pours pretty much clear dark yellow with a rocky, white head. Smell is ultra-fresh, dank hops. Lots of orange and grapefruit peel, grapefruit sections. Some white pepper and sage. Taste is piney hops, resiny hops, candied orange sections. 8%+ is very well hidden.

Thanks to Tom for sharing at a tasting. Pours a lightly hazy orange amber with a medium bubbly off white lacing head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, nice malty sweet nose, caramel and orange. Flavor of pine, grapefruit, toasted malt, moderate hop bitterness, dry and well done.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of the other Tom. Poured a medium golden/amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops, pine, some citrus rinds, and earthy. Tastes of citrus, caramel, tropical fruits, and pineapples. Medium alcohol in the finish.

Bottle from OldGrowth. Thanks! Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was thick and off white with excellent retention and lacing. The aroma was dominated by caramel. There were also whiffs of citrusy hop, pineapple, and hay. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with moderate hop bitterness of about 6 out of 10. Tasted of caramel, toffee, sprucy hop, and dry toasted bread. Good stuff.

Bottle courtesy of ucusty. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma (resiny & piney) backed by caramel malt. Flavour of resiny hops, caramel malt, light alcohol and a long bitter finish. Well balanced. Medium bodied. pretty good stuff, I’d get this again for sure.

(Bottled On: 11/20/07). Good to know! I appreciate CBC providing such crucial information. Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange body with a small, wispy white head. Smell: Hoppy aroma of flowers and citrusy grapefruit centered around a modest amount of pale malts. Taste: Pale malts with a light sweetness lead you into a trap of resounding hop bitterness. Plenty of citrus throughout that, along with the bitterness, lasts till the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight oiliness. Drinkability: A respectable Double IPA, though I could use a bit more ’oomph’ to the body. Still decent, though.
