Thanks Santa! A rare treat. I really love the nice combination of rich roasty malts and bright resiny citric hops on this one. Some good chocolate too. Very dark brown, voluminous beige head. Flavor is restrained, surprisingly, with a mild roast and coffee combination, and a wet ashy finish. Pretty decent from a brewery I’ve never even heard of!

Poured a clear deep ruby color with a medium tan head. Big roast on the malt with notes of coffee and some ash. Mild sweetness and chocolate. The flavor is of choclate and roasted malt. Lively carbonation on the tongue. medium to full bodied with some creaminess.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of OldStyleCubFan. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma is a wonderful blend of semi sweet chocolate, roasted malts, and a touch of coffee. The flavor opens with some semi sweet chocolate and roasted malt before giving way to darker chocolate and a dry coffee finish. There is a lingering bitterness in the finish. I don’t get much of the alcohol in this, but do catch the mentioned licorice slightly as it warmed.

Big thanks to AgentSteve for opening this rarity (well it’s rare on the west coast). Pours black with nice lacing. Great smell. I smell it over and over. It totally reminds me of the best of Mauii coconut porter, with hints of toasted coconut. The taste is nice, but a little dry and thin, but still very good.

Bottle courtesy Ucusty. Pour is dark dark brown with a cream colored head. nose is mostly coffee, but in a sweet way. Some chocolate as well. Flavor is also coffee and chocolate, with some toasted malt. The body is a bit thin, but overall an enjoyable beer.

Bottle from trade, but not sure whom. Dark brown pour with small brown head. Spice, coffee, and chocolate on the nose. Flavor had a lot of spice with hints of coffee. A lot of carbination, with lighter body for style. Nice roasted malt finish.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with OldStyleCubFan (thanks!). Bottled on 01/30/08. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, coffee, and slightly earthy. Tastes of bitter chocolate, roast, and coffee. This one was roasty all the way around. Alcohol content well hidden.

sampled at the WBF in Raleigh. Pours a nice dark black with a small light tan head. The aroma is very roasty, grainy, chocolate, coffee. The flavor is very roasty and grainy, burnt popcorn, lightly waxy, fairly nice flavor. nice full mouthfeel.
